Natural therapeutic resources: bromide, iodide and boron brine (3.34%), therapeutic mud. Location: As early as the 14th century, Ustka was an important fishing port on the Baltic Sea. Situated at the estuary of the river Slupia, today it is a well-known spa and seaside holiday centre offering a beautiful landscape. The municipal promenade stretches along the sandy beach, which is protected by sand-dunes and a park. Numerous restored19th- century villas and hotels stand on both sides of the promenade. Treatment facilities: sanatoriums with 1,334 beds. Available therapy: physiotherapy centre, spa clinic. Attractions and cultural events: It is worth visiting the many galleries, including the Gallery of Arts and Crafts and Goldsmithery. Regular events include the Pomeranian Festival of Organ Music, Days of the Sea (July), Lighthouse Holiday, Balloon Rally, bridge tournament, national Omega-class yacht regatta. Tourism and sports: tennis courts, sports fields, indoor sports hall, mini-golf, indoor pool, yacht base, horse-riding centre. There are numerous hiking and biking routes nearby. A traditional, picturesque tourist route leads along the shore to the neighbouring village of Rowy. In Ustka itself, it is worth seeing the fishing port, pier, lighthouse from 1871, and the Old Town with a number of fishermen’s cottages. In the area: Slowinski National Park with picturesque dunes and unique fauna, the Open-air Museum in Kluki, the Pomeranian Princes’ Castle in Slupsk, and the Slupia Valley Scenic Park. |
