Former capital of Mazovia
Pride of 1000 year old Plock is the Tumski Hill with its originally Romanesque Cathedral of Our Lady (12th c.), later reshaped in the Gothic and Renaissance styles, fragments of the castle of the Mazovian Princes and remains of the Benedictine abbey. Other historical monuments include churches, convents, neoclassical toll-gates, houses in the neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau styles as well as granaries on the high Vistula bank. The museum in the castle features the Art Nouveau exhibition.
