An unusual hunt

In Poland you can hunt many sorts of game, including deer, wild boar, various predators and birds. Some “hunters” are fascinated by wolves howling in the Bieszczady or the Suwalki Lake District in winter. Others are thrilled by the rutting bellow of the stag in the mountains as well as in the Borecka, Augustowska, Bialowieska and Knyszynska Forests located in northeastern Poland; others are captivated by the characteristic call of the crane, or the whole concerts of birds. Such “orchestras” can be heard in the bulrushes of the Rivers Biebrza, Narew and the lower Odra... The voices of rare animal species can still be recorded in those places.

Other “hunters” are passionately fond of tracking wild animals and identifying their prints. In Poland one can find tracks of animals such as lynx, wolf, elk, red deer and bison as well as traces left by otters and beavers. Regular hunters and those who practice bloodless hunts can find comfortable accommodation in forester’s lodges located deep in the woods; some of them were built especially to cater for such enthusiasts.
